New! Getting started with Sessions

Sessions are the newest, simplest way to teach with your Everyday Speech curriculum (the Platform). Each session is a fully built, no-prep lesson created by our clinical team, so you can open it, preview for about a minute, and start teaching. Each unit now contains two sessions, and they are here just in time for Back to School!

What's in a session

Every session is built from the same parts, so once you've taught one, you'll know what to expect from the rest:

  • Warm-up: Three warm-up materials to choose from.
  • Session opener: A guiding question to start the lesson, along with the key terms you'll cover.
  • Video lesson: The core teaching material, followed by a check for understanding.
  • Practice opportunities: Three ways to practice the skill; a discussion prompt, a roleplay, and a minigame. Use one or work through all three.
  • Extension material: An activity to apply the learning, such as a matching game.

When you finish teaching, you can mark the session complete.

Choosing your session length

At the top of each session, choose how much time you have: 15 minutes, 30 minutes, or 45 minutes.

When you select a length, the session adjusts automatically. The parts that don't fit are set aside, so what stays on the page matches the time you have. There's no need to decide what to cut, the session does it for you.

 

Generating session notes

Inside each session, select Generate session notes to create a short summary that you can copy and paste wherever you need it.

Session notes are helpful for:

  • Individualized Education Program (IEP) documentation
  • Intervention tracking
  • Sharing what you covered with caregivers

Sample IEP goals

In a session, select Sample IEP Goal to open a window with sample IEP goals for that material. From the window, you can:

  • Select Copy text to paste a goal wherever you need it.
  • Select Download PDF to save the goals as a file.

 

Finding a session

You can reach sessions the same way you navigate the rest of the curriculum:

  1. Open a skill.
  2. Choose a goal.
  3. Open a unit.
  4. Select a session.

If you open a single material directly, such as a video lesson, the page now shows you where that material sits in the curriculum, along with a Teach the full session link so you can move from one material to the complete lesson around it.
